Farm Holidays in Sardinia
Agriturism in Sardinia offers more than just the sea. Starting as inexpensive accommodations in coastal areas, hospitality within agricultural businesses promptly showed the hard-working and proud character of the people on this extraordinary island. In this manner, they created their own sort of cultural autonomy, offering seafronts in lesser-known areas moving inland. Hospitality in agricultural businesses also includes tastings of the finest specialities from local agriculture and cuisine. The formaggi pecorini goat cheeses are superb (Pecorino Sardo, Fiore Sardo and Pecorino Romano are all DOP), as well as the lamb meat (IGP), roasted pork, fish and seafood dishes (pastas, soups, fried dishes...) and desserts (we must mention the seadas - pastries made with dough, fresh goat cheese and honey). The wines are exquisite: a few worth noting are Vermentino di Gallura DOCG, Vernaccia DOC, Cannonau DOC and Malvasia DOC.
