Farm Holidays in Friuli Venezia Giulia
Friuli Venezia Giulia offers picturesque landscapes of rolling hills where you will find thriving agriculture, vineyards (as in Collio, province of Gorizia), breeding (production of Montasio DOP cheese and San Daniele DOP prosciutto), as well as crops. And it offers the untouched nature of the mountains of Carnia and the Julian Alps and a unique view of the Carso (rich with grottos hollowed out by the calcium-rich waters, among which the Grotta Gigante near Prosecco merits particular attention), in the provinces of Gorizia and Trieste.
There are many interesting historic artefacts from the roman, medieval, and renaissance eras, as well as sites from the First World War, such as the Sacrario di Redipuglia (a military cemetery). Not to miss are visits to the lagoon city of Grado, the Castello di Miramare, the city of Trieste (the castle, roman theatre, church of S. Giusto) and Udine (Piazza della Libertà, the Castello).
