Farm Holidays in Emilia Romagna
Emilia Romagna is well known for its great cuisine (which has contributed to bringing the European Food Safety Authority to Parma), as well as its beaches, the entertainment industry on the Riviera Romagnola, the natural environment, and its exceptionally rich historic culture. Well scattered throughout the region, agriturisms allow visitors to combine these precious attractions with local agriculture, which offers many tasty gastronomic specialities. The agricultural industry produces everything: for the most part the plains yield fruits, vegetables, fodder and milk; whilst the hills are characterised by vineyards, olive groves and crops of grains. It is the Italian region with the highest number of agricultural products to receive DOP and IGP recognition from the European Union. These products include the Prosciutto di Parma DOP and the Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, recognised and treasured throughout the world. It is also a land of prestigious wines including: Albana DOCG, and DOC Lambrusco, Sangiovese and Trebbiano.
