Farm Holidays in Campania
Let’s take off from Reggia di Caserta, one of the most lavish royal palaces: 1200 rooms designed by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli. Along the coast you can see Cuma (an acropolis) and the Campi Flegrei (aka Phlegraean Fields). The first “modern-style” buffalo breeding originated in Caserta and then spread to the province of Salerno for the production of Campania Buffalo Mozzarella DOP. You cannot pass up Naples, agriturisms on the Sorrento Coast (we suggest trying the Limoncello made with lemons from Sorrento IGP and a salad dressed with extra virgin olive oil from Penisola Sorrentina DOP), the excavations at Pompeii and Ercolano, and the coastal towns of Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Ravello, Amalfi and Vietri. In the province of Salerno you will find agriturisms at their greatest, along the sea and inland, and especially in the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. Don’t forget to visit the ruins of Paestum. Inland, the evocative areas of Irpinia and Benevento are rich with historic artefacts and great DOC wines, like Taurasi, Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, and Solopaca.
