Farm Holidays in Calabria
In Calabria there are three national parks: the Pollino National Park, the Sila National Park and the Aspromonte National Park.
The characteristics of this territory make it possible for most agriturisms to face both the sea and the mountains at the same time. The landscapes in Aspromonte are wondrous and beyond reach, whilst lush and warm in the Sila plateau, with beautiful lakes and picturesque towns. There are also many locations of great cultural interest. In Reggio Calabria the famous Riace Bronzes have been well preserved.
Agriturisms allow visitors to get to know the local agriculture rich with traditional, high-quality products: extra virgin olive oil (Alto Crotonese, Bruzio, Lametia, all DOP), cured meats (Capocollo, Pancetta, Salsiccia and Soppressata, all DOP), cheeses and DOC wines. In the province of Reggio Calabria the production of Bergamotto DOP is widespread, from which is extracted an essence highly requested by the perfume industry. Among the fruits and vegetables, we must mention the clementines of Calabria IGP.
